Is Taking one Tablet of Proscar (5mg of Finasteride) for Hair Loss Too Much Daily?
I’ve been prescribed [tag]Proscar[/tag] for [tag]male pattern baldness[/tag] ([tag]mpb[/tag]) by my doctor in October 2007. It’s 5mg and I’m taking 1 tablet per day. Is this too much? Could I be risking my health taking this dosage? Would I experience [tag]hair shedding[/tag] if I reduce the dose?
Please don’t take one tablet of Proscar per day for [tag]hair loss[/tag] unless your physician has instructed you to do this directly. The recommended dosage is only 1mg of [tag]finasteride[/tag] and one Proscar tablet contains 5mg, which is way too much. Go to your local pharmacy and buy a pill splitter, cut the pill into quarters, and take one quarter of it daily. You may even consider skipping the 5th day. This will translate to approximately 1mg of finasteride daily, which is exactly what is contained in [tag]Propecia[/tag]. I doubt that cutting down the dosage will induce additional hair shedding as only 1mg daily is needed to [tag]treat baldness[/tag].

I have been on 5mg Proscar for 18 years and have had no ill effects. Proscar is brand name for finasteride. I was going bald and bald is all males in my family. I have had no side effects have 3 children and I have a full, full head of hair. It work’s for me! Remember you must have testosterone to block the DHT. Do your home work. Get your blood work done for testosterone. In my family all males have been bald by 19 years old. I bet if a scientist read this and who are trying to find the absolute cure for baldness would love to bottle what’s ever going on in my body. There are several factors here, don’t ever stop, be patient and go on with your life and let what your doing work. Don’t stop ever. My email is below is you want to ask me any questions I’ll do my best to answer. I am just an average joe and I am not a doctor. Best of luck…
