How Long Should I Take Propecia Before Hair Transplantation?
I am going to consult with a [tag]hair restoration physician[/tag] in Florida in the next few weeks. I am not currently on [tag]Propecia[/tag] but I plan on getting on it soon. How long should I be taking Propecia before my [tag]hair transplant[/tag]?
How long you need to take Propecia (finasteride) depends on whether or not [tag]transplanted hair[/tag] is being placed in between and around your [tag]natural hair[/tag]. If not, then you do not have to be on Propecia for any length of time before undergoing [tag]hair restoration[/tag] surgery. However, if your [tag]hair transplant doctor[/tag] is [tag]transplanting hair[/tag] in between and around existing native hair, it is recommended to be on Propecia ([tag]finasteride[/tag]) for at least 6 months but preferably one whole year. Propecia may help strengthen any [tag]minaturizing hairs[/tag] being impacted by [tag]Dihydrotestosterone[/tag] or [tag]DHT[/tag] (the hormone responsible for genetic hair loss).
I hope this helps.
