The golden window for pre-treating scar issues is from post-operative week 1 to 6. I ask all my [tag]hair transplant[/tag] patients to come back for a free scar check at the one month mark and unfortunately less than 20% of patients follow through.
I do this because if the [tag]follicular unit transplantation scar[/tag] looks good at a month post-operative, it is really rare, but not impossible, for the scar to act up later. And if it looks good, I tell folks to stop [tag]vitamin E[/tag] or [tag]mederma[/tag] – both of which, in my opinion, are useful modalities for pre-treating and possibly preventing scar stretching if it occurs.
Bottom line, if you are prone to scar issues, make sure your [tag]hair restoration physician[/tag] is involved with the post-operative care.
