This question, from a member of the Hair Restoration Discussion Forums, was answered by Jotronic – a senior member and consultant to Coalition physicians Dr. Victor Hasson and Dr. Jerry Wong:
I recently underwent a [tag]follicular unit transplantation[/tag] procedure where my extracted [tag]donor strip[/tag] was closed using staples. I’m curious, will the holes left by the staples create a “train track” scar around the natural [tag]strip scar[/tag]?
Don’t worry, I’ve yet to see permanent “train track” scarring from staples. This is usually caused when sutures are pulled a bit too tight during a [tag]follicular unit transplant[/tag] procedure closure. Over time, and I’m talking about serveral months, you may get the occasional “build up” in one of the staple hole areas, but this is normal. As a fellow [tag]hair loss[/tag] sufferer, I had this after all three of my [tag]hair transplant[/tag] procedures. It will rectify itself and just simply go away.

Ted,
Scar revision (using a standard or trichophytic closure) is definitely an option for patients who are not happy with previous hair transplant scars. A trichophytic closure helps reduce tension on the wound, and, in doing so, reduces the possibility of stretching. If you're interested in this procedure, I highly recommend consulting with one of our qualified hair transplant surgeons:

I have had three HT and two strip scars. I am hoping to get a trico closure hoping to minimize one of the scars - is this a viable option?
