Seinfeld Star Jason Alexander Admits to Hiding Hair Loss with a “Hair Piece”

Based on series creator Larry David, the character George Costanza, from the landmark television series “Seinfeld,” was known for his neurotic personality, unpredictable demeanor, and, most importantly, “[tag]bald[/tag] head.” Because George’s physical appearance would be an important element in many episodes, the creators naturally cast [tag]Jason Alexander[/tag] – a comedic actor suffering from an advanced degree of [tag]hair loss[/tag].

Throughout the series, Jason Alexander maintained his naturally [tag]balding[/tag] appearance and did not seek any form of [tag]hair restoration[/tag]. However, recently the actor was spotted with a very different look: a nearly restored head of hair. News sources quickly reported that Alexander had undergone a [tag]hair transplant[/tag] procedure, but the actor quickly resolved all speculation with the following statement:

“I thought about grafts or implants but frankly didn’t trust the results would be good enough and also wanted to retain the option of playing truly bald characters. So I began looking for a [tag]hair system[/tag]. What you see on my head is a really good, semi-permanent [tag]hairpiece[/tag]. I challenged my designer to make me a piece that would look very similar to the way I did 10 years ago. So, it looks like a guy who is losing his hair and isn’t an artificial mop of hair that I never had.”

Throughout his explanation, Jason Alexander comments on some of the positive aspects of [tag] hair systems[/tag] and how the product would allow him, as an actor, to continually alter his appearance. However, what the actor seems to overlook is the impressive results achieved by modern [tag]hair transplantation[/tag] and the value of utilizing preventive [tag]hair loss[/tag] medications (like [tag]Propecia[/tag] and [tag]Rogaine[/tag]).

Today’s [tag]surgical hair restoration[/tag] allows appropriate candidates to transform and restore high Norwood [tag]balding patterns[/tag] to natural, aesthetically pleasing levels. A case like Jason Alexander’s would require the skill of a dedicated [tag]hair transplant surgeon[/tag] and possibly several sessions, but it’s not unreasonable to expect satisfactory results similar to the “naturally thinning” hair piece described by the actor. Additionally, adding preventive medications could further enhance the result and allow for a more aggressive surgical reversal of the hair loss.

Naturally, we’re pleased to see a celebrity bravely addressing the issue of hair loss and unabashedly seeking hair restoration options. In far too many cases, high profile individuals feel embarrassed by the need to seek hair restoration, and this can cast an inappropriate shadow for all [tag]hair loss sufferers[/tag] seeking treatment. We wish Jason Alexander the best of luck with his new hair system, and hope all individuals who are unhappy with their hair loss will step forward and research all the surgical, medical, and cosmetic options available.
