I am not experiencing hereditary hair loss, however I have a big forehead. Would I be able to get a hair transplant to lower my hairline and place hair on the upper part of my forehead?
From a technical standpoint, hair can be transplanted anywhere and it will grow with hair transplantation. Many first-rate hair restoration physicians lower the hairline of hair loss sufferers with male pattern baldness/female pattern baldness all the time. Dr. Rahal, a member of the coalition of independent hair restoration physicians lowered the hairline of a hair loss sufferer in their early 30’s going by the nickname “hairfree” on our hair restoration discussion forums. Before considering hair transplant surgery, however, especially not experiencing any hair loss; there are a number of things to consider as you may or may not be a prime candidate for hair transplant surgery.
The primary consideration for this situation is age. Young people typically are not good candidates because there is no telling as to whether or not they will experience hereditary hair loss (Androgenetic Alopecia).
Using one’s finite donor hair (the area on the sides and back of one’s head where hair is taken from to use for hair transplantation) is dangerous at a young age in order to aggressively lower the hairline. In the event the patient starts balding – there will be less of the donor supply available to be used to cover the balding areas. The last thing this hair transplant patient would want is to be 40 years old with a nice thick hairline and a gap of scalp behind it because they started to lose hair.

To determine if you are a hair transplant candidate I advise consulting with one of our recommended hair transplant physicians. You can use the map on our website to select one closest to you. The hair transplant physician will be able to go over all the specifics and determine as to whether or not you are a good candidate.
