After once again seeing Dr. Griffin and his staff in action, I’m very impressed by how they take every measure possible to optimize a patient’s procedure at every step of the way. In my opinion their level of skill, dedication and care is absolutely world class.
Yet it amazes me how few people online really appreciate just how outstanding their work and clinic is. So often the clinics who do the very best hair transplant surgery like Dr. Griffin’s clinic are so focused on the procedure they spend little or no time touting their work on the forums. Thus the forums are often dominated by a few big names who are savvy at getting a “buzz” going online.
I hope that this write up will give Dr. Griffin and his staff some recognition online for the truly outstanding work they do every day.
Dr. Griffin has been doing microscopically prepared follicular unit hair transplantation since the early nineties and he and his staff have stayed on the cutting edge ever since. He and his staff take great care in removing and suturing the donor area to avoid any unnecessary transection of hair follicles or damage to the donor area. They also remove only narrow and wide strips to ensure that they can close and suture the donor area with a minimal amount tension. Due to his technique and care Dr. Griffin’s patients commonly find that their donor scar is virtually undectable.
Dr. Griffin has a large and well trained staff who can accommodate any size case. Thus the size of a session is not limited to what the staff can do but what is ultimately safe for the patient.
All follicular unit grafts are trimmed under microscopes that are lighted by fiber-optic light for optimal visualization. I was impressed to see that even for a one patient case of 1,500 grafts Dr. Griffin had seven technicians carefully trimming grafts, which in my opinion were beautifully refined grafts.
The clinic also goes the extra mile by placing all donor tissue in a hypo thermasol free radical solution that is PH balanced to human tissue. While most hair transplant clinic’s feel that simple saline solution is sufficient Dr. Griffin and his staff believe that the potential benefit of this solution justifies the added expense.
Dr. Griffin often only does one patient for the day. I admire the amount of care and unhurried work that is dedicated to “the patient of the day” as he calls it.
Dr. Griffin uses very tiny custom cut blades that are carefully sized to each patient’s particular graft sizes and characteristics. Thus the incisions are as small as possible and have minimal impact on the scalp. This also enables Dr. Griffin to dense pack grafts when appropriate for the patient. He is also very careful to personally control the depth, angle and orientation of each and every incision.
He wears seven power magnifying glasses while making these incisions so that he can also carefully avoid cutting or transecting any pre-existing hair follicles in the recipient area.
Dr. Griffin prefers to make the graft incisions “laterally” (i.e. perpendicular to direction of the hair growth) to optimize the cosmetic appearance of fullness for the new hair.
They also took a team approach to placing the grafts in order to get the grafts back into the patient sooner than later.
In my opinion, follicular unit grafting simply does not get any more refined, careful or excellent. I applaud Dr. Griffin and his staff for going the extra mile at every step to assure optimal results for their patients. Now if only they weren’t so modest online so that more hair loss sufferers could benefit from their outstanding procedure.
