Can a Hair Transplant Accelerate Balding?

I’ve read a publication by Dr. Rassman on www.baldingblog.com that a  [tag]Hair Transplant[/tag] can accelerate the [tag]balding[/tag] process.   Is this true?

What Dr. Rassman  is most likely talking about is permanent shock loss. [tag]Miniaturized hairs[/tag] which is part of hereditary hair loss  have a greater chance of being “shocked” and sent to early retirement. These native hairs will have inevitably retired anyway but [tag]hair restoration[/tag]surgery CAN expedite the process.

There are a few ways to minimize the risk of permanent [tag]shock loss[/tag] in [tag]hair transplantation[/tag].

• [tag]Hair loss medication[/tag] such as Propecia  ([tag]finasteride[/tag]) and/or Rogaine  ([tag]minoxodil[/tag]) used for at least 6 months to a year prior to [tag]hair transplant surgery[/tag], if working can strengthen the hairs enough so that they are more resilient to shock – and even if they are temporarily shocked, will grow back.

• With minimally invasive incisions using ultra refined follicular unit transplantation, there is less trauma to the scalp, therefore the risk of shock loss lessens.

• [tag]Transplanting hair[/tag] grafts further apart between weaker native hairs instead of [tag]dense packing[/tag] will also lessen the trauma to the scalp and therefore reduce the risk of sending [tag]miniaturized hairs[/tag] into early retirement.
