I’ve been under a lot of stress at work recently. Could this be causing me to lose my hair?
Though there are extremely rare circumstances when certain types of tremendous stress can cause sudden hair loss, the every day normal stressors of life will not cause male pattern baldness (MPB) or female pattern baldness (FPB).
Examples of every day stressors are such as financial concerns (paying the mortgage on time, receiving the next pay check, etc), work related stress, punctuality (getting the kids to school on time, getting to work on time, waiting for someone to pick you up in a timely manner, etc), physical fitness (though physical fitness can be considered a stress reliever it is also an added stress on the body).
Certainly there are plenty of other normal stressors in someone’s life so the list could go on and on. But rest assured these things do not cause hereditary hair loss. The cause is in the genes.
