Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) Hair Transplant for Curly Hair?

I recently went to a [tag]hair transplant[/tag] surgeon for a consultation and I told him that I wanted to go for [tag]FUE[/tag] but he said that I had curly hairs and so I was not a good candidate for FUE and suggested that I’d go for strip instead. So is there anyone out there with curly hairs who has got an FUE hair transplant?

Very curly hair such as African American hair is a challenge to harvest via [tag]follicular unit extraction[/tag] (FUE) because the hair continues to curl under the scalp making it difficult for the surgeon to score without transecting the grafts.

Surgeons will sometimes perform a small test procedure on patients with curly hair in order to determine the quality of the grafts. Others may simply turn risky patients away or recommend [tag]follicular unit strip surgery[/tag] ([tag]FUSS[/tag]) instead.

Of course, this can be a serious issue for patients traveling abroad. You could arrive at your destination only to find that you are not a candidate for FUE.
