Typically, Rogaine (minoxidil) is not as effective along the hairline and temples as it is in the crown. But, you have nothing to lose by trying and some patients have reported hair growth in this area.

In most cases, restoring the frontal third of the balding scalp is accomplished through hair transplant surgery.

Hi, I have been taking regaine since late August last year, applying it to the back of my head and temples mainly. I have been making very good progress in this period, however I have noticed my right side of my head *is thinning* even though my left side is a lot thicker. Would regaine help with the sides as well if it is working everywhere else on my head?

Don’t worry. Interrupting your minoxidil regimen for a week should not result in shedding. Just be sure to resume application as soon as possible.

Though not a documented side effect, some men and women do report dark circles under the eyes with Rogaine (minoxidil) use. The good news is that many also report that this condition subsides with discontinuation of the drug.

If you wish to continue treating your hair loss with minoxidil, I suggest switching to the 5% solution. You may see a reduction in the appearance of black rings.

Oh my god, is this stuff why I have aged much faster than my twin brother in the last three years? I’m on the 15% liquid and my eyes have rings and wrinkles under them. I have never smoked but he does yet people are saying I look 5 years older!

I’m using minoxidil during 5 months already.Just after I started to use it,the hair shedding was severe.and then after 2 months it stopped to fall.hair was growinf fast and didnt fall at all. I slightly decreased the amount of minoxidil and sometimes apllied it only once per day.and then the hair shedding started again 4 months after I started to use it.All small hair which has grown front are falling now when I aplly minoxidil

All this seems like a real hassle. And all the while, you only have a so-so chance at regrowing some hair. I think I’ll just keep shaving my head. Thanks for the info, though.
