How Can My Old Hair Transplant Work Be Repaired?
Category: FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) , FUT (Follicular Unit Transplant) , Hair Transplant Surgery , Post Operative ConcernsI had hair transplantation several years ago and received minigrafts. Needless to say, I’m not happy with my hair transplant results. Can they retransplant this old grafts? What is the success rate for this?
Hair transplant repair can be performed in a number of different ways. The previously transplanted hair (minigrafts) can be extracted and then re-distributed into the balding areas. I would imagine the success rate of this hair restoration procedure would be similar as the success rate of Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) which is dependent on a number of factors including:
- The hair transplant surgeon / hair transplant clinic selected
- The type of surgical tools used to extract the minigrafts
- Proper care of the extracted hair grafts during the extraction, intermediate, and placement process
Keep in mind that removal of these minigrafts will create scarring in the area in which they were extracted. Once the minigrafts are separated into follicular units and redistributed into bald areas, the scarring can be masked by the transplanted hair.
However, extraction of the minigrafts may not be necessary if they can be properly camoflauged with follicular unit grafting. This is yet another option for hair transplant repair.
I recommend using our hair restoration forum as a research tool to learn more about hair loss and hair restoration surgery.
