Is it Ok to Shave My Head One Month After Hair Transplant Surgery?

One month after my FUE hair transplant, I shaved my entire head bald with a razor. I didn’t see any problem in doing this, because my scars seemed fully healed. Did I destroy anything? My hair transplant surgeon said that I will be ok but I’m afraid that I shaved my head too early.

Your hair restoration physician is correct. Shaving your head one month after a hair transplant is perfectly acceptable whether you’ve undergone follicular unit extraction (FUE) or follicular unit hair transplantation (FUT). The transplanted hair follicles are embedded deep into the balding scalp at this point and the only way they could come out is if they are surgically removed. Additionally, shaving your head will not cause or facilitate hair loss. This is a hair loss myth.

Remember that transplanted hair typically sheds between two to four weeks after hair replacement surgery and will begin to grow between three to five months. It will however, take up to one year for your hair transplant to mature and to see the final hair restoration result.
