Hi my name is Sean and I am trying so many things to make my hair grow Ive tried fish oil, also hair and tail shampoo, and nioxin shampoo recommended by my hairstylist, I also tried minoxidil and I didn't feel like it help...I want to try propencia but the side effects that Ive read about sounds really scary...they include breast cancer and also erectile dysfunction....should I try finastride..the good thing is that since propencia is a brand name is pricy but now thanks to generic brand I can get finastride cheaper but I'm scared of the side effects..should I try it????

Erik,

Minoxidil is the key ingredient in topical hair loss solutions like Rogaine, and is clinically proven safe and effective for hair loss. Although it's technically tested effectively for hair loss prevention and regrowth in the crown and mid-scalp, many hair loss sufferers also report good results in the frontal-scalp and hairline area.

As far as purchasing minoxidil/Rogaine products is concerned, I highly suggest reviewing our online hair loss store: https://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/hair-loss-treatments.html

As far as the azeliaic acid is concerned, there seems to be some anecdotal evidence and a study from the last 1980s claiming it helps block dihydrotestosterone (DHT) - the hormone responsible for male pattern baldness on the scalp, but this claim has not been backed by any further studies.

I hope this helps!

I'm turning 24 and i have a widow's peak that i've never been fond of. I recently noticed my hairline is starting to recede, making the WP more pronounced. My question is this: i read on another site that using a product that has a mixture of minoxidil and azeliaic acid works better for my targeted hair loss region. Is this true? If so, where would i be able to purchase it?

D.A.

At 17, it's possible that you are beginning to experience the start of a "maturing hairline," but I highly doubt that any hair loss (real or perceived) is being caused by your shampoo. However, I do recommend scheduling an appointment with your personal physician, bringing in the shampoo, and letting him/her review the contents and determine whether or not anything in it can cause hair loss (though, again, I do doubt it would be the shampoo). Good luck!

D.A.

If you are suffering from hair loss, you should consult with a dermatologist in order to determine the cause. If you are suffering from androgenic alopecia (male pattern balding) then you may very well benefit from Rogaine (minoxidil) and Propecia (finasteride).

Shampoos and oils will not slow your balding or regrow hair.

Kevin,

Shedding for the first 3 months (or so) is common with treatments like Rogaine (minoxidil). However, the 'trade off' is that after the hair sheds, it grows back thicker and stronger because of the medication. It's definitely tough (using the foam knowing that you're likely to experience an initial shed), but many patients are very satisfied with minoxidil use (it's a proven preventive treatment) and continue utilizing it despite the initial shedding phase.

Good luck!

Rogaine worked on my receding hairline / enormous widows peak. Pretty stoked cause I'm in my mid 20s and a bald head just doesn't work on me.

hi everyone

im 25 and just started losing my hair in the last year or so at the front and peaks. it kind of annoyed me so despite warnings of it being ineffective i went ahead with some rogaine 5% on those areas. its been 6 weeks and results have so far been pretty decent. little white hairs are there, more so then before i think. wish i'd taken photos for before/after. i got a 3 month supply on ebay for like 30 euros (40 U.s.) and to be honest, im happy with what ive seen so far. im not expecting miracles, but it seems to be helping. hope this helps some people make a choice.
