The hairline lowering operation is not a hair transplant. It is a type of scalp reduction, as has been pointed out, that has stood the test of time. It is best performed on females who have no ongoing hair loss. Some males who have had transplants or will commit themselves to having them later might be considered only after extensive counseling. In general I discourage men from having this operation. If they are having male pattern loss follicular unit grafting should be considered first. Also women with female or male pattern loss should be similarly discouraged.

It is fabulous procedure for those women who are self conscious of a high ,masculine hairline, who have always had this condition , who have a familial tenecy for this and have adequate laxity of the forehead and scalp. The procedure does not preclude someone from having follicular unit grafting at a later date.

You are not kidding. Like Tom Petty said " the waiting is the hardest part. Right now just past 5 months. Was considered an "early sprouter" Had frontal region reinforced with 1643 strip. Area is still "see through" so "hopefull to achieve greater density over the next few months. Been cutting my hair pretty short as the central peak is virgin and has alot more hair. Decided a few weeks back to let it grow out a bit. Time tells all tales ...

Marci,

Currently, Rogaine foam only comes in a 5% minoxidil solution which isn't recommended to women. This is due to the increased possibility of unwanted facial and body hair growth. However, some women do use the 5% solution with even greater success than the 2% solution without the unwanted side effects. If the Rogaine for women 2% minoxidil formula isn't aiding much benefit for you, you may want to speak to your dermatologist about potentially switching to the 5% minoxidil Rogaine foam solution.

Best wishes,

Why is the foam only recommended for men? Are there bad side effects for women at the higher strength?

I was thinking that an overhead home laser should work better than a laser comb. At least the time and amount of laser received by the scalp will be more even.

Richard,

Chemo and radiation therapy causes hair loss for reasons other than genetic ones. In many cases, upon stopping chemotherapy and/or radiation treatments, hair loss reverses itself and hair is restored to normal. Though Aloe vera brings certain soothing and cooling properties to the skin, I've seen nothing to suggest it will bring back hair regardless of the cause. In my opinion, talk to your doctor who adminstered the treatments and ask what your chances are of restoring your hair to normal.

I;m losing my hair, following a procedure of eigth weeks of chemo and radiation. Almost bald and still losing. Any chance aloe would help in this situation?

Koko,

Bosley hair regrowth formula, Rogaine, and generic minoxidil treatment are all topical solutions containing the same dosage of the active ingredient minoxidil. Thus in my opinion, purchase and use the lead expensive of the bunch since you'll achieve the same end result.

I hope this helps.
