Both Dr. Tessler and his associate Dr. Aronovitz have been exclusively performing hair transplantation for over ten years. They have been very involved in the evolution of follicular unit grafting and now perform highly refined follicular unit grafting.
Both Dr. Tessler and Dr. Aronovitz carefully create all the incisions for these refined follicular unit grafts using very tiny custom cut blades. By carefully controlling the angle and direction of these incisions he creates a very natural pattern and direction for the new hair, even in the temple and sides.
Their work, staff and clinic are truly first rate from start to finish – from the careful removal and closure of the donor area to the careful microscopic trimming and handling and careful placement. At every step of the procedure they strive to produce optimal results.
For example, both Dr. Tessler and Dr. Aronovitz use six power magnification loops while creating graft incisions in order to get optimal visualization of the recipient area so that they can see even fine vellus hairs and thus make incisions around them.
This attention to detail and high level of care is just one example of what distinguishes them from the merely good enough surgeon. Cumulatively all these extra efforts produce outstanding results.
I’m struck by how outstanding their work is and how little people on the Hair Restoration Research Forums and other forums know about them. They have an outstanding reputation in the Detroit area. But since few of their patients found them online, there is little information about them on the forums.

On October 8th some of the true masters of Ultra Refined Follicular Unit Hair Transplantation came together at the Shapiro Medical Group clinic in Minnesota to exchange ideas and techniques.
During the live surgery, performed by Dr. Ron Shapiro, they discussed technical issues such as how to:
- Remove a safe size donor strip, while keeping the transection of follicles to an absolute minimum. (Dr. Robert Haber’s new “donor spreader”, which virtually eliminates transaction in the donor area was demonstrated.)
- Close and suture the donor area under minimal tension to minimize scarring of the donor area.
- Create an overlapping ledge along the suture to make the donor scar virtually undetectable.
- Use high powered magnification during the creation of graft incisions to avoid transecting existing hair follicles (even tiny vellus hairs) in the recipient area.
- Use ultra tiny instruments that create minimally invasive incisions as small as 0.6 mm.
- Create incisions that are orientated (laterally and or sagitally) to achieve perfectly angled and directed hair that grows in completely natural directions.
The level of discussion and demonstration was cutting edge and gave top physicians a chance to compare notes and ideas with others at their level. Attendees later attended a dinner in downtown Minneapolis where the discussion and exchange of ideas could be continued.

When I visit a truly excellent A+ hair transplant clinic I leave inspired and confident in knowing that patients who find their way from our website to this community will achieve outstanding results. The patient may not fully appreciate how exceptional this clinic’s work really is. But the physician and staff know it and for them their pride in doing their very best for the patient is its own reward. This was true in spades for Dr. Konior and his staff. I have visited the Chicago metro area on more than one occasion to identify quality hair transplant services and in my opinion Dr. Konior and his clinic are way ahead of the next best option in the Chicago area. In fact, their clinic and procedure rank among a handful of world class hair transplant clinics in North America.
From the moment a hair loss sufferer contacts their office the long term interest of the patient is put front and center. Tom Ruiz, who is the patient educator for the clinic, often advises those who contact their office to consider using Propecia for several months before even considering a hair transplant. Both Tom and Dr. Konior emphasize education and patient empowerment when they meet with potential patients. And why not – because the more patients learn about hair transplant surgery the better they look.
With an outstanding reputation among his colleagues and patients, Dr. Konior is often booked months in advance. Yet even with such high demand for his services he rarely does more than one hair transplant patient a day because he believes that a patient deserves he and his staff’s full attention from beginning to end. He is known for virtually never leaving the surgical room from the start of surgery to the very end. Dr. Konior even personally places a large portion of his patient’s grafts. Such “hands on” attention is very rare these days.As Dr. Konior put it, he and his staff work to produce “one Ferrari rather than three or four Fords in a day”.

Having attended many of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS) annual meetings over the years, I’ve long known that Dr. Robert Haber is highly respected by his physician colleagues. In 1995 he was recognized for his innovative techniques with an “Award of Excellence” by the ISHRS. In 2001 he was awarded the Archimedes Prize by the Italian Society of Hair Restoration and the Michelangelo Award in 2002. He also served as the President of the ISHRS from 2002 to 2003.
But seeing him and his staff in action confirmed that he “walks the talk” in all aspects of his hair restoration surgery from A to Z.
The issue of how hair bearing tissue is removed from the donor area has been a particularly hot topic on the internet the past few years. Patients have been concerned about minimizing scarring in the donor area, while maximizing the amount of hair follicles that are successfully transplanted.Dr. Haber is very much at the cutting edge of addressing these issues so that patient’s get the optimal amount grafts from a given amount of limited donor tissue, while minimizing the visibility of any donor scar. In fact, his new device, the “donor spreader”, which virtually eliminates any transection (severing) of hair follicles in the donor area during donor removal, was a big sensation when it was introduced at the annual ISHRS meeting in Australia in August of 2005.Dr. Haber’s new “Donor Spreader” – making Donor Harvesting Transection Free.
